Electrical - Motors

Operating mines use many types of electrical motors. In pit operations, electrical motors are found on electric mining shovels which are used for loading blasted ore and waste into haul trucks. The electric shovel uses a swing, hoist, crowd, and propel motors to position, move or locate the bucket. P&H (Harnischfeger) are common motors used for these four shovel motor applications. Other types of electric motors are called traction and main motors and GE (General Electric) is another well known motor brand.

On the plant side, electric motors are used to run grinding mills, conveyors, pumps and more.
